Born to Shine on the Centre Line: Yasmine

  • Posted: 23 June 2017

Horse and rider jumpingIn the next part of our series, Born to Shine on the Centre Line, we meet Yasmine Chaffer from Sheffield.

How long have you been riding?

I've been riding for 11 years.

Tell us more about your horse

Zeldas Perfection or Purdey is a five year old bay TB X KWPN with Cruise Missile lines and we've been together for 10 months.

She is suspicious of changes of surface, when I first got her it took me 15 minutes to go from road to bridle way and when she did go she jumped on!

We're currently competing at Prelim and Novice level.

What do you hope to achieve in 2017?

I hope to improve our jumping and get out BSJA over the winter, in a hope to event next season.

What's your biggest challenge?

I don't currently have my own transport for her, and so depend on friends or lorry hire to get out meaning that I don't compete as often as I like. However this is not necessarily a bad thing as she is a big young horse who has taken time to grow into her legs and work out where her feet go!

What's your biggest achievement to date?

Probably her first ever show, where she was thrown in at the deep end at a busy affiliated competition. It was her first time in an indoor arena, being ridden with other horses and seeing white boards, and she didn't put a foot wrong and got two scores 66%+.

How did you first hear about competing with Dressage Anywhere?

I used to keep my horse at the same yard as Ruth and Lucinda several years ago! [Ruth: I remember Clara very well! Lovely horse who I recall I rode for you a few times when Geoffrey was off work.] My first entry was back in 2010 and I started again with my newest horse in late 2016.

What's your favourite thing about competing with Dressage Anywhere?

Definitely the quality of the feedback, I don't have many lessons so the feedback goes a very long way in helping me improve, and helps me to know if I am on the right tracks with my young horse!
